  1. Wash your feet daily with soap and water. Don’t go the bed without washing your feet.
  2. Dry your feet thoroughly after washing them. Pay particular attention to between the toes.
  3. After drying apply a good quality high water content foot-cream (not aqueous cream).
  4. Check your feet regularly for hard skin and remove gently with a foot file. Book a appointment to see a HCPC registered chiropodist if the hard skin is painful.
  5. Cut toenails straight across. Or if your having difficulty cutting your nails file regularly instead.
  6. Need new shoes? The best time to go shoe shopping is in the afternoon when your feet are at their largest.
  7. Change hosiery daily, if you are diabetic turn hosiery inside out to prevent seam pressure.
  8. Limit the time that your wear high heels. Throw a pair of flats in your bag for travelling home – your feet will be so grateful.
  9. Wear flip-flops in communal changing rooms, around pool areas and hotel rooms. This will help you prevent catching athletes foot and verrucas.
  10. Don’t wear flip flops all the time they don’t provide any support to your feet.
